In every corner of our daily lives, a small and powerful energy source is silently playing a crucial role - it is the CR button battery. From saving time on computer motherboards, to remote unlocking with car keys, to recording health data on smartwatches, this seemingly insignificant battery is actually an indispensable "heart" of modern portable electronic devices. 1、 What is CR button battery?

CR button type battery, as the name suggests, is a small disposable battery that looks like a button or coin (non rechargeable). Its name comes from its chemical system and appearance:

C: The chemical system representing the battery is lithium manganese dioxide. This is currently the most mainstream button type battery chemical system.

R: The battery is represented by a circular shape.

Subsequent numbers: indicate the size code of the battery. For example, "2032" in CR2032 represents a battery diameter of 20.0mm and a thickness of 3.2mm.

This type of battery is known for its high energy density, stable voltage, and long lifespan.

2、 Core Chemical Principle: Lithium Manganese Dioxide

CR batteries use lithium as the negative electrode, manganese dioxide as the positive electrode, and organic electrolyte for ion conduction. Its rated voltage is 3.0V, which is twice that of traditional alkaline batteries (1.5V). This chemical system brings several natural advantages:


High voltage: 3V voltage enables it to directly power many low-power chips and sensors.


High energy density: capable of storing more electrical energy than alkaline or silver oxide batteries at the same volume.


Voltage stability: Throughout the entire service life, the voltage output is very stable and only drops sharply before the battery is depleted, ensuring the stability of equipment operation.


Extremely low self discharge rate: The annual self discharge rate is usually less than 1%, and the shelf life can be as long as 5-10 years, making it very suitable for equipment that requires long-term standby or backup.


Wide working temperature range: It can usually work normally in environments ranging from -20 ℃ to+70 ℃, with strong adaptability.


3、 Common models and application scenarios

The CR battery family has numerous members, with different models corresponding to different sizes and capacities. Here are some of the most common models:


CR2032: "King of All Uses"


Size: 20mm diameter, 3.2mm thickness.


Capacity: Approximately 200-240mAh.


Application: The most widely used. Mainly used for computer motherboard BIOS chips (CMOS), calculators, electronic scales, car remote keys, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring sensors), small medical equipment (such as thermometers), toys, etc.


CR2025


Size: 20mm diameter, 2.5mm thickness.


Capacity: Approximately 150-165mAh.


Application: Similar to CR2032, but thinner and slightly smaller in capacity. Commonly used for devices with strict thickness requirements, such as ultra-thin remote controllers, Bluetooth earphones, access cards, etc.
